2013 BMW X1
Thanks to a premature leak of information, we now know that the U.S.-spec 2013
BMW X1 will start at $31,545 when it goes on sale this fall following its debut
at the 2012 New York auto show.
Three
modeles will be offered -- sDrive28i, xDrive28i, and the U.S.-exclusive xDrive35i. The xDrive starts at $33,245 and
the xDrive35i will start at $39,345. Both of the 28i models will powered by the
new N20 turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 tuned to make 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. We've liked the 3 Series and
5 Series we've sampled with this engine, so we have plenty of reason to believe
it'll be good in the X1 as weel. The 35i, meanwhile, is powered by the 300-hp,
300-lb-ft 3.0-liter turbo-six we've become quite familiar with. Unlike the rest
of the X range, the X1 is
built in Leipzig, Germany rather than South Carolina. Prior to its arrival, the U.S. model will receive
a handful of changes including redesigned headlights, new interior surfaces,
and center console cupholders.
