Fourteen-hundred clams. Big ones. Greenbacks. That’s how many dollars sit between the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe and Stingray convertible’s base prices relative to the outgoing models’ prices of entry. Chevy has finally announced complete pricing for the totally redesigned, seventh-generation Corvette coupe and convertible, and it’s nearly shocking how little of an increase there is between the new and last year’s prices. The Stingray hardtop starts at $51,995 and the droptop’s point of entry is $56,995.
Based on features alone, the 2014 Vette comes with far more standard content than the 2013 car—stuff that makes its $1400 price increase seem like a screaming deal. There’s a new seven-speed manual transmission with active rev matching, carbon-fiber hood and roof panel (on coupes), an all-aluminum frame (previously limited to the high-performance Corvette Z06 model), LED headlight accents, dual reconfigurable eight-inch driver and center-stack displays, a Bose nine-speaker audio system, and a power tilting and telescoping steering column. Not to mention the all-new 6.2-liter small-block engine, which gets direct injection and active cylinder deactivation—final power figures are forthcoming, but expect around 450 horsepower—20 more than last year’s base Vette engine. Chevy claims that, with the high-performance Z51 package, the 2014 Stingray can sprint from 0–60 mph in fewer than 4 seconds and be capable of 1-g cornering.
As we discovered when a 2014 Corvette dealer order guide leaked onto the internet, there will be no shortage of options for America’s sports car. Of greatest interest to us, of course, is the Z51 Performance package, which rings in at $2800 and adds an electronically controlled limited-slip diff; tighter gear spacing with the manual gearbox; dry-sump engine lubrication; additional cooling for the brakes, differential, and gearbox; bigger brakes; upsized wheels and tires, and aerodynamic tweaks. The Z51 Package unlocks the option for GM’s Magnetic Ride Control and performance traction-management system for another $1795. For the lithe and narrow among us, we’d also spring for the deliciously bolstered $2495 competition seats. And for hearing the small-block V-8′s full song and dance, the $1195 dual-mode exhaust setup is a must.
Those seeking additional vanity can indulge in the $1995 unpainted roof panel (for coupes) with its carbon-fiber weave on full display, as well as $595 red-painted brake calipers, $495 black-painted wheels, and $995 carbon-fiber interior trim package. We’ve already noted how much of an improvement the 2014 Corvette’s interior look and feel is over the last-gen car’s cabin, but Chevy is offering several ways to up the ante. There is the 3LT interior package, which for $8005 wraps the entirety of the interior (dash, doors, seats, instrument panel) in Nappa leather, adds a 10-speaker Bose audio system, color head-up display, navigation, heated and ventilated seats, and power seat lumbar and bolster adjustment. Buyers who spec the 3LT kit also can have the upper portions of the interior wrapped in sueded microfiber for an additional $995.
For those keeping count, a 2014 Corvette coupe with all the options outlined here lists for $73,360; equally equipped, the convertible is $78,360. You don’t need us to tell you that, in the perennial Corvette vs. Porsche 911 blood rivalry, that the Chevy still has the 911 beat on price. Fully loaded, the Vette coupe is still about $10,000 less expensive than a base 911 Carrera. Now comes the fun part of seeing how the Stingray matches up against the 911 on the road—again.

Chevrolet SS 2014

Chevrolet SS 2014

Fast-forward 12 years to 2008, when the tire-scorching Holden Commodore-based Pontiac G8 hit the streets. Though popular with enthusiasts, it didn't last long, meeting the axe in 2009 along with the rest of Pontiac. Five years later, the G8's follow-up is here in the form of the 2014 Chevrolet SS, which GM is introducing this weekend in Daytona. The Chevy SS is going to look mighty familiar to Pontiac G8 GXP owners. Like the G8 GXP, the Chevy SS comes to our shores with a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8. Those hoping the SS would get the 2014 Corvette's new LT1 V-8 might be a bit disappointed, but the LS3 is a solid choice for Chevy's new sedan. Under the SS' hood, the 6.2-liter V-8 cranks out around 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear through a six-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Unlike in the Holden version of the SS, the VF Commodore SS-V, a six-speed manual isn't available. The lack of a manual transmission might be a disappointment at first, but seeing as the SS' biggest rival, the Dodge Charger R/T, doesn't offer one, it's not surprising.

Chevy expects a 0-60 mph time of about five seconds, thanks in part to a 3.27 final-drive ratio. Considering the 2014 SS has virtually identical specs compared the Pontiac G8 GXP, save for the manual transmission, we expect it to hit 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile should take about 13 seconds. Performance-tuned electric power steering; two-piece, four-piston front Brembo brakes (rear brakes are single-piston sliding calipers); and forged 19-inch aluminum wheels are all standard. The five-spoke wheels are wrapped in sticky Bridgestone rubber and staggered 245/40/19 up front and 275/35/19 in back. Chevy says the SS will have a low center of gravity with a near 50/50 weight distribution, accomplished by making both the hood and trunk lid from aluminum, meaning the pieces are 30 percent lighter than they'd be if they were made from steel.

Visually, the 2014 SS is virtually identical to the Holden VF SS-V, with the only real changes being the two cars' badging and grilles. The new SS almost has a Mercedes C63 AMG look to it, with wide, low-set HID headlamps and low-mounted LED running lamps flanking the foglights. Other distinguishing features up front include Chevy's corporate grille, an inverted trapezoidal front valence reminiscent of both the Ford C-Max and Scion FR-S, and a "power bulge" hood. Around back, the SS sports dual exhaust tips, a rear spoiler, and a rather shapely rear end. Dimensionally, the SS is about identical in size to the G8. Both the Pontiac and Chevy ride on a 114.8 wheelbase, though the G8 is 0.6 inches longer, 0.1 inch wider, and 0.2 inch lower than the SS. Inside, the SS will come loaded with standard equipment. The sedan, which Chevy says will seat five adults comfortably, will have leather sport seats, eight-way power front buckets, soft-touch materials, chrome trim, and blue accent lighting. The SS will also come standard with Chevy's MyLink infotainment system, a color head-up display, nine-speaker Bose audio system, and safety features like forward collision alert, lane departure warning, blind spot monitors, and a backup camera. The SS will also be the first Chevy to offer a self-parking feature. Though it'll be making its NASCAR debut this weekend, the 2014 Chevy SS won't be hitting dealerships until late this year. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but we're expecting it to start around $38,000. The 2014 SS could very well be the start of something special for the bow tie brand. Here's hoping GM gives it more than two years to find its niche. After all, the third time's the charm, right?

Chevrolet Corvette Convertible First Look 2014

Chevrolet Corvette Convertible First Look2014

With the coupe and convertible engineered simultaneously—per chief engineer Tadge Juechter, the C7 was designed from the beginning as an open-top car—differences between the two body styles are minimal. The only change other than the soft-top is the elimination of the C6.R-style rear quarter-panel vents for the transmission (automatic and Z51) and differential coolers (Z51), which have been replaced by underbody air intakes.

The stiffer frame also allows for identical suspension, steering, and brake tuning for the coupe and convertible. The suspension is comprised of a lightweight short/long arm suspension at all four corners and is available with Bilstein dampers, while the third-generation Magnetic Ride Control is available on Z51 models. Standard wheels are 18 x 8.5-inch front and 19 x 10-inch rear; Z51 models get 19- and 20-inch forged wheels. GM claims Z51 models can pull more than 1.0 g during cornering. Motivation for the Corvette Stingray convertible comes from the same 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 as the coupe, which features direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and variable valve timing. Official numbers haven’t been released, but GM says output will be around at 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. Like the coupe, the engine can be mated to a rear-mounted seven-speed manual transmission with rev matching or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

The LS7-powered 2013 Corvette 427 set the bar for Corvette convertible performance fairly high, posting a 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds, finishing the quarter-mile in 11.9 seconds at 121.5 mph, and stopping from 60 mph in 101 feet. It also posted a 1.06 g (avg) on our skidpad and finished our figure-eight test in 24.1 seconds. We have to wait until we get our hands on the 2014 to find out if the C7 convertible will be the new king of this hill, but the outlook is good. Though the 2014 Corvette Stingray will only be available in left-hand drive, it will still be sold in some right-hand drive markets such as Japan and the United Kingdom. It will also be exported to continental Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. Export-spec Corvettes will be unchanged aside from minor tweaks to meet local regulations concerning details like lighting and mirrors. With the base 2013 Corvette convertible starting at $55,595 and an estimated starting price of around $59,000 for the C7 coupe, expect the 2014 to start around $65,000, still well short of the $77,915 Chevrolet wants for the limited-edition 427. If performance is similar, it would make the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette convertible one hell of an open-roof motoring bargain

Chevrolet Malibu LTZ

2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ:

The all-new, 2013 Chevrolet Malibu that GM [NYSE: GM] just revealed at the New York auto show—and at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show yesterday—will be a truly global model.
With a wider stance, HID headlamps, and LED taillamps, and showy wheels, plus all-new trims and interior materials, the new Malibu looks poised to take a step upmarket, if not in actual price, in perception next to mainstream market leaders like the Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Optima.

2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ Features And Specifications:

The 259-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder will be available for the LT and LTZ trim levels of the 2013 Malibu lineup, which started sales earlier this year as a 2012 model solely in the mild-hybrid Eco variant. The lowest-cost buy-in for the Malibu turbo is an LT (with required 3LT trim) at 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ27,710, a price that includes the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ760 destination rap. A top-trim Malibu LTZ turbo goes for 2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ30,925 that includes destination.
The Malibu’s turbo 2.0-liter joins the Malibu Eco’s 2.4-liter and a conventional 2.5-liter four-cylinder (197 horsepower/191 pound-feet of torque) to form a three-powertrain lineup for the 2013 model year. Premium fuel is recommended, but not required for the turbo.
